We are delighted to be working with our well-established murti-disciplined Surveying practice, who are looking for an experienced Principal Designer/Health and Safety Adviser to join the business.
Based at the Edinburgh office and reporting to the Partner/Team Leader, you will be responsible for liaising with employees, clients, contractors and other outside agencies.
You will manage your own projects being the key interface between & liaising with the Client Teams, Design Teams, Principal Contractors, and others to deliver projects in line with the Client's remit and programme.
Your key responsibilities will include:
* Ensure that all projects are set up and managed to meet current QA requirements.
* Ensure that projects are monitored so that client requirements are met and they are delivered profitably.
* Support other members of staff in the Principal Design Team.
* Ensure the Partner/Team Leader is fully informed of projects.
* Complete planned work programmes and projects to schedule.
* Adhere to Quality Assurance procedures.
* Business Development.
* Cross Selling of the business services.
* Professional Ethics.
* CPD.
* Be fee earning to 95%.
To be suitable for this challenging and rewarding role, you will have the following skills, experience and key attributes:
* Previous relevant experience as a Principal Designer.
* Experience in dealing with client and design teams.
* Experience in working to agreed targets.
* Experience in all types of construction project work.
* Strong personal qualities and social skills.
* Current CITB CSCS card or be prepared to obtain.
* Health & Safety qualifications are essential i.e. NEBOSH NGC1, NGC2 & NGC3/Construction Certificate and/or NEBOSH Diploma, degree or equivalent qualification in construction, design or engineering.
* Excellent knowledge of the physical built environment and construction processes.
* Previous experience of providing a Health and Safety Adviser service.
* Membership of a relevant professional body.
* Evidence of Continued Professional Development.
* A thorough understanding of the Construction (Design & Management) Regulations 2015 is essential.
* Must be able to work unsupervised to a high quality.
* Able to meet tight deadlines.
* A responsive, constructive and flexible attitude towards working arrangements within a team environment.
* Proficient in using IT (Microsoft Excel, Word and Project. Databases).
* Must have relevant construction and health and safety knowledge/legislation.
* Able to demonstrate business acumen.
