Clinical Fellow: Medicine for Older Adults – Fixed Term for 12 Months from August 2025
Up to 30 Hours per Week
Location: Intermediate Care initially at Carrickstone Care Home, with input to Hospital at Home / Community Services.
University Hospital Monklands (UHM) seeks to appoint a Clinical Fellow for a one-year period starting August 2025. You will join a multidisciplinary team of Consultants, Specialty Doctors, and other professionals dedicated to service improvement for patients with Frailty in North Lanarkshire.
The department offers services across four inpatient wards at UHM and three intermediate care sites across Lanarkshire, including outpatient clinics, stroke, frailty assessment, movement disorders, falls, orthogeriatrics, and hospital at home. The team collaborates closely with General Medicine colleagues to provide daily care for frail older adults, especially within our 24-bed Frailty Receiving Unit.
The successful candidate will primarily support services at Carrickstone Care Home but may also provide cover at other intermediate care sites as needed. There will be opportunities to contribute to Hospital at Home and Primary Care Frailty and Care Home MDT services.
We aim to provide a rewarding working environment at UHM and welcome informal inquiries. We also invite candidates to view our facilities and learn about our ongoing efforts to improve care for frail patients.
We support candidates trained outside the UK with a comprehensive induction, including a two-week soft landing period tailored to experience.
Accommodation may be available for those residing outside NHS Lanarkshire for an initial three months to facilitate relocation.
For informal inquiries, contact Dr. Graham McCallum, Consultant and Clinical Lead, at 01236 748748 or DECT No. 401434.
