About the Role
Assist with the management of the kitchen to ensure the Hastings standards of preparation and presentation are maintained.
* Helping the Head Chef manage the smooth and efficient operation of the kitchens, ensuring the hotel's reputation for food quality is always maintained.
* Ensuring the planning, preparation, cooking and presentation of food meets the standards required by the hotel and its guests.
* Contributing to the development of the hotel’s business plan, projects and initiatives to strengthen the hotel's market position.
* Helping the Head Chef manage the culinary budget and kitchen expenditure.
* Implementing and monitoring the company's stock management and ordering policies, taking appropriate action to resolve problems.
* Ensuring compliance with food hygiene regulations, environmental health laws and all relevant legislation.
* Maintaining the hotel’s 5* hygiene score.
* Maintaining security of the kitchen and storage areas at all times.
* Providing appropriate training, coaching and development for all kitchen employees.
* Ensuring Hastings’ quality standards and procedures are fully understood, implemented and regularly reviewed, and that feedback is delivered to foster continual improvement.
* Conducting regular team meetings to communicate standards, targets and company information.
* Ensuring all kitchen areas, fixtures and equipment are properly maintained and presented to the Hastings standard.
* Collaborating effectively with colleagues across departments to foster a respectful and harmonious working environment.
* Carrying out any other duties as required.
About You
Previous experience gained within a quality catering establishment.
Skills Needed
Hospitality.
Required Criteria
* Good communication skills
* A clean and tidy appearance
* Excellent attention to detail
* Right to work in the United Kingdom
* Previous experience at a similar level within a high‑quality catering operation
* NVQ level 2 or equivalent in Food Preparation and Cooking and a recognised current Food Hygiene Certificate
Desired Criteria
* Educated to GCSE standard or equivalent, including English and Maths
* Basic Food Hygiene certificate
* Experience as an Executive Sous Chef

Salary: £33,990.00 per year
