Key areas of support

Our customer has a very good sense of humour and loves building rapport with new people. She is a very social person who enjoys going to farms, walking, clubbing, and attending friendship circles. She also loves going for walks and driving. It is essential you support her to access a range of activities. Her safety is at the forefront of everything, and physical intervention may be used to keep her safe. Being able to work collaboratively in a team is fundamental, as her behaviours can often be unpredictable.

She also suffers from epilepsy; her seizures may be irregular but require rescue medication and may lead to hospitalization. Our customer requires someone who is engaged and understands her signs of communication, many of which are unique to her. Building rapport is key to recognising triggers that may cause challenging behaviours.

She is very independent with her personal care but will still need two people to support her while she does so. She loves being pampered and enjoys all things girly and bling; on occasions she may need prompting or direct support. When it comes to meals the support team will cook for safety purposes, but she enjoys helping in the preparation of meals. It is also important to maintain her living environment.

Whilst this is an established team, her needs will change as her support is ongoing. Therefore we need people who can easily adapt to anything that may arise. Due to the specialism of this role, the successful candidate must be prepared to work within other areas of the business in and around Swindon should the need arise.

Essential

* Must have flexibility and willingness to work varying shifts, including weekends
* Be a team player
* Minimum 1 year of experience with hands‑on care

Desirable

* A full valid UK driving licence and be happy to drive the customer’s vehicle
* Experience working with individuals with Autism, Epilepsy and challenging behaviours

In return we offer

Competitive salary, 28 days holiday pro rata, paid comprehensive induction training and shadow shifts (subject to contract type), free uniform, additional industry‑recognised training, opportunity for career progression, amongst many other benefits – please visit our website to find out more.

ALL JOBS WITH FIRST CITY NURSING AND CARE ARE SUBJECT TO SATISFACTORY REFERENCES, ENHANCED DBS CERTIFICATE AND FULL COMPLETION OF MANDATORY TRAINING.
