Market 36 Recruitment are currently recruiting for a Section Leader on behalf of our client based in Braintree, on a permanent basis.
The successful candidate will be responsible for managing a team of multi-skilled operatives, overseeing KPIs, and ensuring production targets are met within their designated section. This role will involve a combination of hands-on production line work and team leadership to support the wider manufacturing delivery programme.
Roles & Responsibilities
• Lead and manage a section within the production line, ensuring targets and deadlines are achieved
• Oversee the manufacture and assembly of a range of products including vanity units and steel frame building panels
• Drive on-time delivery by ensuring cycle-time adherence and efficient workflow
• Manage equipment and tooling maintenance, certification, and repairs to ensure operational readiness
• Resolve production issues and remove bottlenecks promptly, providing clear direction to staff
• Engage, develop, and support team members through regular performance reviews and training plans
• Identify skills gaps and implement cross-training to maintain a flexible, multi-skilled workforce
• Communicate key information through daily briefings and ensure effective liaison with other departments
• Maintain quality control with a ‘right-first-time’ approach and achieve a 95%+ RFT rate
• Ensure all products pass quality checks before dispatch and reduce defects through root cause analysis
• Promote a ‘safety-first’ culture, ensuring adherence to all risk assessments and safe work procedures
• Lead incident reporting and support health & safety investigations to implement corrective actions
• Maintain a clean, safe and organised work environment, applying 5S principles across the section
• Undertake any other tasks required for the effective operation of the company
Experience, education & qualifications
• Proven experience managing a team in a manufacturing or production environment
• Strong knowledge of best practice in operational management
• Health & safety awareness and commitment to safe working practices
• Strong organisational skills with excellent attention to detail
• Ability to complete administrative tasks accurately and in line with company procedures
Hours: Monday to Friday, 6am – 3pm
