Prestigious Client based in Lutterworth is seeking a Transport Supervisor to start immediately on a temporary contract, which may lead to a permanent role for the right candidate.
The role is varied and involves the following responsibilities:
1. Ensuring H&S and legal compliance related to the role.
2. Allocating vehicles and drivers according to the transport plan.
3. Planning, organizing, and managing the work for all transport staff and customers.
4. Controlling driver resources, including holiday allocation, absence cover, and cost-effective use of agency labor.
5. Understanding and meeting company Operating Licence obligations, with rigorous enforcement of controls and procedures.
6. Ensuring compliance with Health and Safety, Environmental, and Operator's Licence requirements, while delivering excellent customer service measured against KPIs for Safety, Service, and Profitability.
7. Adhering to all Health & Safety protocols, including inductions, training, near-miss reporting, and emergency procedures.
8. Monitoring daily driver hours to comply with the Working Time Directive.
9. Managing personnel, monitoring progress, and addressing issues promptly.
10. Utilizing the Transport Management System to oversee compliance of the transport operation.
11. Developing customer relationships, managing inquiries and complaints professionally.
12. Conducting investigations related to transportation accidents in cooperation with government agencies, and reporting findings to the Transport Manager.
13. Handling employee relations issues through investigations, meetings, or hearings.
14. Maintaining effective communication, including daily driver briefings and debriefings.
15. Completing DBS checks and worker risk assessments as applicable.
16. Preparing KPI reports and maintaining records.
17. Overseeing health and safety checks, vehicle hygiene, and routine inspections, ensuring statutory compliance.
18. Leading, empowering, and developing a team of drivers and transport assistants, including remote and small team management, to ensure high-quality service delivery.
19. Performing additional duties as required by senior management.
20. Managing vehicle access, including downloading and locking vehicles in and out.
21. Working independently with minimal supervision when required.
This role operates Monday to Friday, from 6 am to 7 pm on a rota basis, typically totaling 40 hours per week.
