Quantity Surveyor – Site-Based
Security Clearance: SC (or ability to obtain – Sole UK)
Hours: Full Time, 40 hours per week
Contract: 12 Months
Overview of Role
We are seeking an experienced Quantity Surveyor for a full-time, on-site role. This position provides commercial and quantity surveying support for infrastructure procurements, contract management, and associated costing activities.
Key Responsibilities
Support commercial and project teams in reviewing, challenging, and assuring contractor quotations.
Attend programme and commercial meetings to provide contract management metrics.
Provide commercial advice, including:
Release of retention funds
Payment notices, pay less notices, notices of default
Subcontractor entitlement to extension of time
Subcontractor payment of liquidated damages
Draft early warning replies, compensation event notifications, quotation replies, and responses to instructions.
Liaise with technical teams on queries with commercial impact.
Lead review of compensation events and advise on cost, schedule, and contractual consequences.
Collate team comments on contractor quotations and prepare responses.
Assess applications for payment and forecast to completion; produce reports.
Establish interim payment amounts through site assessment and evidence review.
Prepare final accounts or financial statements; facilitate agreement with contractors.
Manage purchase order values and associated invoicing.
Administer CEMAR at weekly early warning meetings.
Attend weekly commercial meetings with contractors; provide updates on payments, forecasts, and cost assurance.
Liaise with client commercial teams; maintain issues log.
Prepare audit queries for defined cost assessments.
Ensure contracts are administered in line with Contract Management Plans.
Position Requirements
Experience
Delivering quantity surveying activities for complex programmes/projects.
NEC4 contracting processes and activities.
Use of CEMAR or similar contract management software.
Stakeholder engagement throughout programme/project delivery.
Qualifications & Training
Essential:
UK National with SC Clearance (or ability to obtain)
Relevant qualifications/experience in NEC4 costing activities for major projects/programmes.
Accredited degree in a cost, commercial, or related discipline (or equivalent).
Desirable:
RICS Chartered or equivalent.
NEC4 PMA qualified.
