Hazelwood are looking for a qualified Nursing Associate, who has a passion for providing high quality patient focused care who have a flexible attitude towards work and a desire for new challenges.

On Hazelwood you will care for patients predominantly with respiratory illnesses and learn to care for patients with long term respiratory conditions such as COPD, Interstitial Lung Disease.

Main duties of the job

General duties will include, physiological observations and investigations. You will develop an in depth knowledge of, oxygen therapy, blood gas interpretation, wound management, chest drain and fluid balance management and provide personal care to patients.

As a Band 4 you will receive direct support from senior nursing colleagues to develop and enhance your skills. Enabling you to nurse a cohort of patients and be responsible for their care.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

Contribute to the assessment, implementation and evaluation of care to meet patients’ needs in accordance with agreed local and national standards and evidence based guidelines under supervision.

Support and provide patient education and health promotion.

Support the delivery and co-ordination of care, through appropriate professional practice.

Contribute to the management of risk and maintain patient safety, conforming to health, safety and security legislation, policies, procedures and guidelines.

Communicate all relevant information to the multidisciplinary team internally and with external organisations as required, to ensure seamless care.

Maintain accurate and complete records of all care activities, in a timely manner, adhering to local and professional standards for documentation.

Qualifications & Education

Essential criteria

1. Basic General Education GCSE Maths & English grade C or above OR level 2 numeracy skills and level 2 literacy skills
2. Diploma/NVQ level 3 in Health / health & Social care OR completion of the LTHTR TNA course.

Desirable criteria

3. Basic Life Support
4. ECDL or equivalent IT skills
5. Counselling Course
6. ANTT Assessor

Knowledge & Experience

Essential criteria

7. Significant experience of working at Senior Health Care Assistant level in a health or equivalent setting
8. Recent experience of working within an acute hospital setting
9. Experience of assisting with clinical procedures
10. Knowledge of Health & safety
11. Knowledge of infection control and decontamination processes

Desirable criteria

12. Experience of working as an assistant practitioner
