An established Legal 500 criminal defence practice based in West London is seeking an experienced Criminal Paralegal to join their growing team. This is an excellent opportunity for a Criminal Paralegal looking to expand their exposure to complex criminal matters including serious crime, fraud, and police station work.
The ideal Criminal Paralegal will have a genuine interest in criminal law, previous experience supporting solicitors in criminal cases, and a willingness to take on responsibilities at police station level. This Criminal Paralegal position offers great potential for progression and is well-suited to candidates looking to eventually qualify as a solicitor or accredited police station representative.
The Criminal Paralegal's role
The successful Criminal Paralegal will be responsible for supporting fee earners with a wide range of criminal defence matters. Duties will include preparing case bundles, taking client instructions, drafting statements, and assisting with Crown Court and Magistrates' Court proceedings. There will also be opportunities to attend police stations (with or without accreditation) and liaise with clients, barristers, and other third parties.
The Criminal Paralegal
Prior experience in criminal law (minimum 6 months)
Law degree or equivalent qualification
LPC/SQE completed or in progress (preferred)
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Police Station Accreditation is desirable but not essential
Ability to manage competing deadlines in a fast-paced environment
