Chief Engineer / Facilities Manager

This is an exciting time to join the hotel as part of the pre-opening team for an experienced Chief Engineer / Facilities Manager to lead engineering and facilities operations within a 5* prestigious luxury hotel and leisure resort in the heart of Cheshire. This role combines strategic leadership with hands-on technical expertise to ensure the smooth running of all building systems, plant, and maintenance activities.

Job Overview

We have a fantastic new job opportunity for a Chief Engineer / Facilities Manager to oversee maintenance, safety, and operational systems across a luxurious hotel and leisure property.

As a Chief Engineer / Facilities Manager you will ensure the efficient operation of all facilities and engineering functions, maintaining building systems and infrastructure to the highest standards of safety, compliance, and performance.

The Chief Engineer / Facilities Manager will lead a skilled team dedicated to delivering excellence, sustainability, and energy efficiency throughout the resort.

This is a great opportunity for a proactive and technically minded leader with strong facilities or hotel engineering management experience who takes pride in operational excellence and team development.

Duties

* Managing All Engineering and Facilities Operations: Lead maintenance, repair, and technical services across the property
* Planning Preventive Maintenance: Develop and deliver planned maintenance schedules to maximise equipment performance
* Promoting Health and Safety Compliance: Implement risk assessments, managing audits and safe systems of work, including H&S reporting
* Leading and Developing the Team: Train, mentor, and manage staff to ensure high standards of service delivery
* Controlling Budgets and Expenditure: Monitor departmental spend and manage supplier relationships effectively
* Driving Sustainability Initiatives: Lead energy efficiency and environmental responsibility programmes
* Coordinating Contractors and Projects: Oversee refurbishments and ensure work is completed to specification and on time
* Maintaining Accurate Records: Ensure compliance documentation, inspections, and safety logs are up to date
* Managing Life Safety Systems: Conduct and record fire alarm and life safety tests in line with legislation
* Ensuring Exceptional Service Delivery: Maintain operational excellence to support the guest and colleague experience


Candidate Requirements

* Proven experience of managing engineering or facilities operations within a hotel, resort, or large commercial environment
* Background in property maintenance, building services, or engineering management
* Strong leadership, interpersonal, and communication skills with the ability to motivate teams
* Excellent knowledge of health and safety, compliance, and planned maintenance systems
* Organised, proactive, and capable of managing multiple priorities effectively
* Recognised technical qualification or degree in Engineering or a related discipline preferred
* Professional, collaborative, and results-driven approach with a focus on quality and efficiency
