An exciting opportunity has arisen for a motivated and ambitious Trainee to join a well-established accountancy practice, focusing on personal tax and self-employed accounts. This role is ideal for someone looking to begin or progress their career in taxation and accounts, with full training, professional study support and broad exposure to both accounts preparation and tax work.
You'll gain valuable, hands-on experience preparing tax returns and sole trader accounts, working with a variety of clients and developing a strong foundation in both compliance and advisory work.
Role Responsibilities
* Assist in preparing personal tax returns for a diverse client portfolio.
* Support the preparation of accounts for self-employed individuals and sole traders.
* Liaise with clients to gather necessary documentation and resolve queries.
* Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records.
* Collaborate with team members and senior staff on client projects.
* Ensure tasks are completed in line with HMRC deadlines and relevant legislation.
* Participate in training programmes and internal development initiatives.
Personal Requirements
* Strong interest in tax, accounting and financial services.
* Excellent attention to detail and a proactive approach to problem-solving.
* Strong written and verbal communication skills.
* Organised and able to manage time effectively across multiple tasks.
* Good numeracy skills and familiarity with Microsoft Office (particularly Excel).
* A-levels (or equivalent) required a relevant degree or prior experience is a plus.
* Willingness to study towards a professional qualification (e.g. AAT, ATT).
* Full UK driving licence and access to a car (essential due to client visits).
