We’re looking for a committed and compassionate SEN Teacher to join a specialist primary setting in South Durham. This is a school where routines matter, relationships come first, and every small step forward is celebrated. You won’t be managing a class of 30. You’ll be teaching a small group of pupils with additional needs including autism, SEMH, ADHD, and communication difficulties. The support team is strong, leadership is hands-on, and you’ll have the space to teach in a way that genuinely works for your pupils. What you’ll be doing Planning and delivering personalised lessons tailored to EHCP targets Creating a calm, structured, and predictable classroom environment Using creative and therapeutic approaches to engage learners Working closely with Teaching Assistants, SENCOs, and external professionals Supporting pupils with emotional regulation and behaviour strategies It’s teaching with purpose. What we’re looking for UK QTS Experience in SEN, specialist, or inclusive primary settings Confidence supporting pupils with autism and SEMH needs Strong behaviour management rooted in empathy and consistency A steady, resilient approach with a good sense of humour If you’ve worked in a PRU, alternative provision, or specialist school, we’d love to hear from you.
