- Deputy Manager EBD Childrens Residential Home ?? Location: Chester ?? Salary: £35,000 £38,000 (dependant on experience) ?? Shift Pattern: 2 on / 4 off (including evenings, weekends, and bank holidays) We are seeking an enthusiastic, motivated, and experienced Deputy Manager to join our childrens residential home in Chester.
You will play a key role in supporting the Registered Manager to ensure the highest quality of care is delivered, creating a safe, nurturing, and positive environment for young people with emotional, behavioural, and social difficulties.
Key Responsibilities Support the Registered Manager in the day-to-day running of the home in line with Ofsted requirements.
Lead, motivate, and develop a team of residential support staff, ensuring high standards of care and professionalism.
Take responsibility for the home in the absence of the Registered Manager.
Ensure compliance with safeguarding, care planning, and health & safety policies.
Support and guide staff in managing challenging behaviours using therapeutic and child-centred approaches.
Contribute to the recruitment, supervision, and appraisal of staff.
Complete administrative duties including rota management, audits, and record-keeping.
Work in partnership with external professionals, families, and stakeholders to achieve positive outcomes for young people.
Requirements Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare (or equivalent) Essential.
Level 5 Diploma in Leadership & Management (Residential Childcare) Desirable (or willingness to work towards).
Previous supervisory or deputy experience in a childrens residential setting.
Strong understanding of safeguarding, Ofsted regulations, and childrens legislation.
Excellent communication, leadership, and organisational skills.
Ability to manage rotas, staffing levels, and resources effectively.
A full UK driving licence Essential.
Enhanced DBS check required.
