Job Summary This salaried GP role is based at the Cambridge Practice in Aldershot. It is a permanent, part‑time position offering 4–6 sessions per week. The role supports high‑quality patient care, improves access to services, and strengthens practice capacity through routine and urgent appointments delivered in person, by telephone or online.
Responsibilities Primary Responsibilities:
Deliver safe, effective medical care to the registered population in line with the GMS contract. Manage routine and urgent clinical work, including face‑to‑face, telephone, duty‑doctor and mixed‑modality sessions. Provide long‑term condition management, appropriate prescribing, and timely completion of clinical administration such as referrals, repeat prescriptions and record keeping. Follow clinical guidelines, participate in quality improvement initiatives, and contribute to QOF and other delegated clinical areas.
Additional Responsibilities:
Support clinical audit activity, local service‑development initiatives, and the review of significant and near‑miss events in line with best practice. Attend meetings, support governance, continuous improvement, maintain appraisal and revalidation requirements, and commit to ongoing professional development. Advise and support medical students and other learners and work collaboratively with the multidisciplinary team to meet the practice’s strategic aims.
Essential Qualifications
GP with full GMC registration and licence to practise
Experience using a primary‑care IT system such as EMIS and Accurx
Experience with QOF and clinical audit
Experience managing a range of clinical conditions
General understanding of the GMS contract
Ability to work autonomously and within own scope of practice
Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team
Strong evidence‑based practice knowledge and clinical governance awareness
Excellent written and oral communication skills, including accurate clinical documentation
Effective time‑management and the ability to triage, assess and diagnose patients
Ability to request and review pathology tests and other investigations, advising patients appropriately
Ability to assess and manage patient risk safely and effectively
Strong IT skills and ability to learn new systems
Experience of working under pressure and in fast‑moving environments
Good confidentiality practices and DBS check
Commitment to ongoing professional development and continuous learning
Polite, confident, flexible and cooperative demeanour
Motivation to use own judgement and common sense to provide high quality care
Desirable Qualifications
Experience working within a primary‑care GP practice
Experience of working in a dedicated GP training setting
Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) Check Applicants must undergo a DBS check in accordance with the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975. The Cambridge Practice will contact the Disclosure and Barring Service to check for any previous convictions.
