Senior Production Planner Salary: £37,500–£43,000
This Senior Production Planner role takes ownership of production planning, schedule adherence and OTIF delivery in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. You’ll translate demand into a robust, achievable production plan, keep capacity and material constraints visible ahead of time, and drive a disciplined daily and weekly operating rhythm across production.
Reporting into senior leadership, the Senior Production Planner will play a key role in a growing and evolving manufacturing business where stronger planning, structure and day-to-day accountability are a real priority. You’ll work closely with production and leadership teams to bring better forward visibility, improve communication across the business, and help create a more proactive, controlled production environment. This role is ideal for someone who is organised, forward-thinking and confident enough to keep momentum high, challenge issues early and help ensure every unit is built right first time in line with quality standards, regulatory requirements and ISO frameworks.
Senior Production Planner Overview:
Own planning, scheduling and capacity vs demand to protect OTIF delivery
Drive daily and weekly production governance, KPIs and issue resolution cadence
Support right-first-time build standards, documentation control and RCCA discipline
Lead lean and continuous improvement activity to reduce waste and stabilise production execution
Help develop structure, communication and accountability across the production teamDay-to-day responsibilities of a Senior Production Planner
Own production planning and scheduling end to end, balancing demand, capacity and materials with a clear forward view across the day, week and month
Work closely with Sales and internal stakeholders to improve forecast visibility, plan workloads effectively and keep priorities aligned to business demand
Deliver OTIF performance by setting priorities, issuing job cards, smoothing flow from sub-builds through to final build, test and packing, and escalating constraints quickly
Run and lead production governance including daily and weekly reviews, KPI tracking, planning meetings, and MRP activity for builds, sub-assemblies and spares
Support the day-to-day structure of production, helping maintain discipline, communication and momentum across the team
Support right-first-time quality and compliance by improving build processes, work instructions and production standards, while working closely with quality to reduce issues and improve incoming and in-process quality control
Drive root cause analysis and corrective actions for quality issues, missed delivery and production inefficiencies
Use lean principles and data to improve planning, execution, quality and delivery performance
Work closely with production leadership on targets, priorities, accountability and performance
Report clearly into senior leadership on performance, priorities, risks and improvement actions

Proven experience in production planning, scheduling or production control within a fast-paced manufacturing environment
Strong planning, scheduling and capacity management capability with a proactive, delivery-focused mindset
Someone who can think ahead, stay organised under pressure and bring better structure to the day-to-day running of production
Strong communication skills with the confidence to update teams, challenge issues and help drive accountability
Track record of delivering to tight deadlines with high attention to detail and quality standards
Confident making data-driven decisions under pressure and reporting performance clearly to senior leadership
Working knowledge of lean and continuous improvement methods
Clear understanding of how production integrates with the wider business and supply chainDesirable - Senior Production Planner
Electro-mechanical manufacturing experience
ERP/MRP and production planning tools familiarity
SAP exposure
