This position focuses on Advanced Solidification & Alloy Performance Improvement for recycling Al alloys, developing methods to control solidification, refine microstructure, and mitigate impurity effects to produce high‑quality recycled alloys suitable for industrial applications.
Contract: Fixed‑term, 36 months; Hours: Full‑time; Salary: Grade R1 (£40,757 – £44,179, with potential to progress to £52,067).
Responsibilities
* Develop and optimize advanced solidification processes for recycled aluminium alloys.
* Control solidification parameters and refine microstructure to enhance alloy performance.
* Mitigate impurity effects and ensure high‑quality recycled alloys for industrial use.
Qualifications
* PhD degree in Metallurgy, Metal Materials, or related discipline.
* At least two years’ experience in solidification processes, alloy development, and recycling technologies.
* Proficiency in alloy performance characterization, microstructure analysis and mechanical testing.
