We are looking for a motivated, people‑focused Head of Electrical Calibration Laboratory to oversee workflow, quality, performance and continual compliance within our expanding lab.

Salary: £32,000 – £38,000 + overtime opportunities
Hours: 37.5 per week (approx. 8 hours per day)

About the Role
As Head of the Electrical Calibration Lab, you will take responsibility for the effective management of the laboratory, ensuring high standards of technical output, workflow efficiency and UKAS 17025 compliance.
You will:
* Manage and oversee all Electrical calibration workflows, ensuring customer and company requirements are met.
* Maintain full compliance with ISO 17025:2017, supporting the business through audits and continuous improvement.
* Develop and refine calibration procedures, techniques and capabilities as the lab continues to grow.
* Supervise, support and mentor technicians, apprentices and trainees.
* Lead by example to promote a positive, professional and safety‑focused environment.
* Carry out or oversee in‑house and on‑site calibration, repair, inspection and testing activities.
* Work closely with Technical and Production Management to deliver against KPIs and cost objectives.
* Collaborate with Compliance teams on risk assessments, quality documentation and non‑conformance investigations.
* Ensure laboratory equipment is maintained, calibrated and safe.
* Handle day‑to‑day workforce management including inductions, performance reviews, training, leave authorisations and return‑to‑work processes.
About You
We’re looking for someone who is technically confident, methodical, proactive and ready for leadership.
Essential
* Strong Electrical Calibration experience within a UKAS ISO 17025 accredited laboratory.
* Relevant engineering qualification (HNC/HND or equivalent).
* Experience in calibration, testing, inspection or repair of electrical instruments and components.
* Ability to follow procedures accurately and work with precision and attention to detail.
* Strong problem‑solving and organisational skills.
* Confident communicator with the ability to motivate and support others.
Desirable
* Previous supervisory or team‑lead experience (or readiness to step up into this role).
* Commercial awareness with an understanding of cost‑effective calibration processes.
* Ability to remain calm, solution‑focused and positive in a busy environment.
