The Responsible Individual (RI) for the children’s home will be accountable for overseeing the quality and compliance of the homes in accordance with Ofsted regulations and the Children’s Homes (England) Regulations 2015. The RI will ensure the home provides safe, effective, and nurturing care for children and young people, promoting their welfare, development, and safeguarding at all times. This person will act on behalf of the Beacon Haven to ensure our homes are managed in line with legal requirements and best practices. Key Responsibilities: 1. Regulatory Compliance & Governance Ensure full compliance with Children’s Homes Regulations 2015 and associated Quality Standards. Act as the named Responsible Individual with Ofsted and maintain readiness for inspections. Monitor and support the Registered Manager to ensure the home meets or exceeds regulatory expectations. Address any regulatory breaches or shortfalls swiftly and effectively. 2. Leadership & Oversight Provide strategic leadership and operational oversight of the children’s home. Hold the Registered Manager accountable for day-to-day operations, care standards, and safeguarding. Foster a culture of continuous improvement, safeguarding, and child-centred care. Ensure robust systems for supervision, training, and performance management of staff. 3. Safeguarding & Child Welfare Ensure children’s safety, rights, and emotional well-being are prioritized at all times. Work closely with safeguarding partners (e.g., local authorities, LADO, police). Oversee and review safeguarding policies, procedures, and incident management processes. 4. Quality Assurance & Monitoring Regularly review reports, audits, and quality monitoring visits to identify areas for development. Ensure children’s voices and experiences are central to service evaluation and improvement. Lead or commission internal audits and respond to Ofsted inspection findings. 5. Partnership & Communication Maintain strong relationships with external agencies including social workers, schools, and health professionals. Represent the home and the provider in formal settings and during inspections. Ensure accurate and timely communication between the home and the provider/board of directors
