We are looking for 2 Sport Cluster Managers to join our fantastic team at Invictus UK 2027.
In this role you will be responsible for the planning, management and delivery of a cluster of 5-6 sports, leading a team of 8-10 staff.
Based in our Birmingham office we are looking to appoint 2 exceptional individuals to our Sport team to lead all aspects of sport specific planning of a group of sports. The post will report into the Sport Director.
The Sport Cluster Managers will work in close collaboration with the Sport and Operations and the wider Invictus Games Birmingham 2027 team. You will be responsible for developing a suite of sport operational plans including schedules, officials, equipment, transition needs, volunteers. Supplier and stakeholder engagement, contracting and budget management will be core to the role. The role will evolve, initially leading the planning of a group of sports that suit the candidates skill/experience set, leading to a more refined role, managing a group of sport managers whilst continuing to lead the detailed planning of 1 or 2 sports. With additional defined areas of responsibility split across the 2 roles e.g., results, equipment, sport presentation, medical, medal ceremonies etc.
This is a full time, fixed term role to July 31 2027.
The salary for this position is £52,000 per annum.
This role shall be based at our Birmingham office and flexible, hybrid working arrangements are available with the Organisation.

Invictus UK 2027 is a charity and delivery organisation for Invictus Games Birmingham 2027, taking place in July 2027 at the National Exhibition Centre (NEC) and Sandwell Aquatics Centre. Founded by Prince Harry, The Duke of Sussex in 2014, the Invictus Games uses adaptive sport to support the recovery of Wounded, Injured, and Sick (WIS) service personnel and veterans.
Birmingham 2027 will bring together 550 competitors from over 25 nations across 12 sports, including Archery, Athletics, Cycling, Esports, Indoor Rowing, Laser Run, Pickleball, Powerlifting, Sitting Volleyball, Swimming, Wheelchair Basketball, and Wheelchair Rugby.

About the role

Key Duties and Responsibilities
Stakeholder Management:
•Build strong relationships with key stakeholders including the host venues, the Invictus Games Foundation, National Governing Bodies, competing nations.
•Inform and engage internal departments on the needs of Sport and the competitors.
Sport Planning and Delivery:
•Drive planning for a group of sports from the programme.
•Drive integration between functional areas of the Games, host venues and key suppliers.
•Assist functional area leads in the development of sport plans that work for all delivery areas, ensuring these meet the agreed service levels and timelines, and integrate.
•Assist the Sports Director in the management of the functional area budget lines, driving value for money alongside operational excellence.
•Develop strong positive collaborative working with key partners and contractors for Games venues and any subcontracted areas of delivery (e.g. Sport Presentation, Results)
•Deliver an innovative approach to planning and ensure that resource is used efficiently.
•Ensure that sport plans incorporate a world class approach to accessibility and place the Invictus competitors at the heart of planning
•Contribute to the event risk register, identifying, managing and escalating risks in line with the risk management policy
Person Specification
Experience and Knowledge:
Essential
•Recent experience of delivering major international multi-sport events safely, on time and on budget.
•In-depth knowledge of one (or more) sports delivered within a multi sports environment.
•Proven experience in a sport management position and leading teams.
•Strong knowledge of IT programs including PowerPoint, Excel and Smartsheet.
•Flexible and innovative approach – combining your experience with innovation.
•Previously responsible and accountable for delivering within agreed budgets and a track record of driving efficiency and cost control.
•Ability to manage and resolve unforeseen issues quickly and in a calm manner.
•Experience in identifying and managing risks
Desirable
•A range of experience of working in and alongside National Governing Bodies.
•A deep understanding of the logistical and accessibility considerations required to deliver a successful adaptive sport event.
•Extensive knowledge and planning of at least 2 of - sport presentation, medal ceremonies, sport medical, sport equipment, results timings & scoring and sport information
•Experience of implementing sustainable practices within the event industry
