Junior Quantity Surveyor - Construction / Public Sector Contracts Location: Warrenpoint, Co. Down Salary: Competitive (dependent on experience) Hours: 40 hours per week Reporting to: Senior Quantity Surveyor Job Type: Full-Time, Permanent Ashton Recruitment is currently working on behalf of our client, a well-established construction and facilities management contractor, to recruit a Junior Quantity Surveyor for an exciting new contract secured in the South Down area. This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated QS with 2+ years' experience to develop their career within a busy commercial team delivering public sector and housing association projects. The Role The successful candidate will support the Senior QS in the commercial management and delivery of major contracts, ensuring projects are delivered on time, within budget and to client specification. You will gain exposure to cost control, contract administration, procurement, variations and final accounts within a structured and supportive environment. Key Responsibilities Assist in the delivery of major construction and maintenance contracts Interpret client requirements and support service delivery Carry out accurate site measurements and take-offs from drawings Prepare quotations based on site measurements and schedule of rates Support project programming and resource planning Maintain cost control on live projects Assist with procurement and management of suppliers and subcontractors Identify, price and agree variations and compensation events Prepare cost-value reconciliations and financial reporting Assist with interim and final account preparation and negotiation Support directly employed trades and operational teams Represent the company professionally at all times Support Head Office helpdesk functions when required Ensure compliance with data protection and company procedures Health & Safety Responsibilities Adhere to all Health & Safety legislation and company policies Ensure Risk Assessments and safe systems of work are followed Report any accidents or safety concerns appropriately Essential Criteria Recognised Construction Qualification (BSc, HNC or HND) Recognised Quantity Surveying qualification Valid CSR Card or formal Health & Safety training Full UK Driving Licence Minimum 2 years' experience within the construction industry Strong understanding of construction processes and measurement principles Proficient IT skills including Excel, Word and Outlook Desirable Criteria Experience working with Measured Term Contracts Experience within Facilities Management Knowledge of NIF and PSA Schedules Personal Attributes Strong attention to detail and methodical approach Ability to work independently and as part of a team Good communication and organisational skills Reliable with excellent timekeeping Ability to meet deadlines and manage workload effectively Flexible and willing to undertake overtime when required Positive attitude towards continuous improvement and professional development Additional Information Due to the nature of contracts within the Public Sector and Housing Associations, the successful candidate will be required to undergo an Access NI check as part of the onboarding process.
