Laboratory Technician Job Description
We are currently looking for a laboratory technician to efficiently sample and test construction material products, conducting onsite and offsite testing, and updating electronic records.
Key Responsibilities
1. Test and sample concrete, mortar, and aggregates, ensuring safety and efficiency both on site and in the laboratory.
2. Maintain a safe, tidy workspace and ensure the smooth operation of the laboratory.
3. Follow company and accrediting bodies' quality procedures and protocols to maintain quality standards.
4. Record sample details on test record sheets and laboratory software.
5. Prepare for inspections from independent accrediting bodies.
6. Investigate all material-related complaints, providing feedback and evidence to support findings.
7. Provide technical support for other contracts within the UK and Ireland.
Skills, Knowledge & Expertise
* Minimum GCSEs in Maths, English, and Science.
* Experience in a similar role or within the construction industry is desirable but not essential.
* Excellent knowledge of the Microsoft Office suite, including Excel.
* Experience with recognised accreditation standards such as BSI, UKAS is desirable but not essential.
* Knowledge of current UK (BS EN) standards is desirable but not essential.
* Ability to work in a team, providing support to colleagues.
* Flexibility to work different hours, including night shifts or weekends if required.
* Valid driving license.
