CONNECT Communications Manager
Salary:
The starting salary is £47,060, which includes allowances totalling £2,928. The salary is broken down as £44,132 basic salary, which will increase annually until you reach the top of the scale £52,652. Plus, a location allowance of £1,928 and a non-pensionable allowance of £1,000.
Location / Hybrid Working:
This role will be based at Sydenham, SE London with Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday as core attendance days. It is expected that there will be a need for you to attend offsite meetings as required by the business. We actively support hybrid working solutions, with the expectation that you will have 2 days working at home.
The Role:
CONNECT is one of the Metropolitan Police Service's most significant technology programmes. It replaces seven legacy IT systems with one integrated solution to support core operational processes including case management, custody, intelligence, property and proactive planning. The system is in daily use by frontline officers and staff, making effective communication about it vital.
CONNECT has improved significantly since launch, but early user experience left a legacy of frustration. Restoring trust, encouraging adoption and communicating clearly about ongoing improvements is central to the product's success. That's where this role comes in.
As
CONNECT Communications Manager
, you will be the voice of CONNECT across the organisation. You'll shape the way information is shared, ensuring officers and staff have clear, practical guidance at the right time, in the right format. You'll manage the CONNECT Hub (SharePoint), create content that explains updates and new functionality, and run campaigns to build user engagement and confidence.
You'll also act as the bridge between the product team, senior officers and frontline users translating technical changes into accessible updates, responding quickly to last-minute changes, and helping to manage reputation.
It's a fast-moving environment with regular releases, urgent fixes and competing demands, so the ability to work at pace while maintaining accuracy and consistency is key.

What you'll be doing
* Developing and delivering the communications strategy for CONNECT, aligned with wider MPS objectives.
* Creating and managing engaging content across multiple channels: email, MS Engage, intranet, live events, blogs, videos and infographics.
* Maintaining and improving the CONNECT Hub, including user guides, tips and FAQs.
* Running campaigns to drive user adoption and tackle poor perceptions of the system.
* Managing reputational issues, including crisis communication when needed.
* Engaging with senior police officers, staff associations and central communications teams.
* Monitoring feedback, measuring impact and adapting communications accordingly.
* Supporting responses to FOI requests and ensuring consistency with MPS branding and standards.
What you will bring:
* Strong track record in communications, covering the full mix (internal, external, digital, brand and crisis comms).
* Excellent writing and editing skills, with the ability to produce user-friendly content for diverse audiences.
* Experience in stakeholder engagement, from senior leaders to frontline staff.
* Ability to deliver high-quality work at pace, managing multiple priorities and last-minute changes.
* Evidence of inclusive behaviour and collaborative working.
* Experience managing risks and reputational issues in communications.
Security Clearance:
This post requires access to the most sensitive intelligence material on a daily basis. Applicants must hold or be prepared to undergo National Security Vetting (NSV) Security Check (enhanced) (SC(e)) level before taking up the post; with a willingness to undergo Developed Vetting (DV) once in post, if required.
