Children & Young People CBT Therapist and CBT Lead
Job Summary: CYP Cognitive Behavioural Therapist & CBT Lead – Brighton & Hove Wellbeing Service.
Permanent contract – 30 hours per week (part‑time hours considered). Band 7: £46,148–£52,809 per annum pro‑rata.
Location: Reed House, 47 Church Road, Hove, BN3 2BE.
The post-holder will work within our Children and Young Persons (CYP) Service, providing cognitive‑behavioural assessments and interventions. This role is part of a wider strategy to increase access to evidence‑based interventions for children and young people with mental health difficulties in Brighton & Hove.
Key Responsibilities
* Triage referrals, conduct CBT assessments and deliver CBT to children and young people aged 2 to 24, using face‑to‑face and online modalities.
* Provide clinical supervision and line management to Children’s Wellbeing Practitioners.
* Maintain accurate session records and complete data collection within service protocols.
* Attend multidisciplinary meetings and contribute to service improvement and the delivery of best practice.
* Work closely with other practitioners to ensure appropriate transfers of care where necessary.
* Ensure the maintenance of professional standards according to regulatory, professional and accrediting bodies.
Qualifications & Training
* A graduate‑level qualification in nursing, social work, occupational therapy, arts therapy or psychological therapy.
* Training in mental health and experience in stepped‑care services for anxiety and depression.
* Postgraduate Diploma or Masters in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy – eligibility for BABCP accreditation.
Experience
* Experience working in mental health services, particularly with children and young people.
* Ability to meet agreed service targets and manage caseload and time effectively.
* High standards in written communication, able to produce clear reports and letters to referrers.
Additional Requirements
* UK professional registration and current sponsorship (if required).
* Disclosure and Barring Service check.
