Job Summary:
We are looking for an experienced and proactive Team Leader/Warehouse Operative to join our team. In this role, you will oversee the day-to-day operations of the seafood production process, ensuring high standards of food safety, quality control, and warehouse efficiency. You will be responsible for managing the production team, driving performance, and ensuring products meet the highest standards. This role also involves warehouse duties, such as unloading deliveries and operating a forklift.
Key Responsibilities:
* Lead and supervise the seafood production team, ensuring smooth daily operations.
* Ensure compliance with food safety regulations and best practices to maintain product quality and hygiene.
* Oversee and support the unloading of deliveries, ensuring the timely receipt and proper storage of products.
* Operate a forklift and manage warehouse tasks, including organising stock and maintaining a clean, safe working environment.
* Manage production schedules and allocate tasks to team members.
* Maintain accurate records of production activities, stock levels, and food safety audits.
* Provide training and guidance to team members, promoting safety and productivity at all times.
* Troubleshoot and resolve any production issues, ensuring minimal downtime and disruption.
* Monitor and report on production performance, including yields, wastage, and any discrepancies.
* Work closely with the logistics team to ensure timely delivery and availability of raw materials.
* Foster a positive, team-oriented work environment and ensure high levels of staff motivation.
Required Qualifications & Experience:
* Proven experience in a food production environment, preferably within the seafood industry.
* Knowledge of food safety standards, regulations, and best practices (e.g., HACCP).
* Experience in managing or leading production teams in a warehouse or manufacturing setting.
* Ability to drive a van and operate a forklift (Forklift certification is a plus).
* Hands-on experience in warehouse duties, including offloading deliveries and organising stock.
* Strong problem-solving abilities and attention to detail to ensure product quality and operational efficiency.
* Excellent communication and leadership skills to effectively manage a diverse team.
* Ability to work in a fast-paced, physically demanding environment.
Preferred Skills:
* Multilingual abilities, especially Gujarati, are highly preferred to communicate effectively with a diverse team.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: £14.00 per hour
Expected hours: 45 per week
