Application Support Engineer
Cambridge/Hybrid (2-days 'in-office' per week)
This is an exciting opportunity to join the business as Applications Engineer (6-month FTC) and be at the forefront of Information Technology within a defence focused business.
Due to the nature of our client’s business - we can only accept UK nationals who can obtain security clearance - please note.
Qualifications:
* Methodological approach to the introduction of New Software, Applications and Services, to the environment, therefore project management experience, qualifications is beneficial.
* A thorough administrator level understanding of Windows 10 and Server 2016:
* Experience of Windows registry and file system.
* Experience of Microsoft Group Policies and Active Directory Scripting using tools such as PowerShell.
* Windows 10 support and patch management using WSUS, LANDesk (or equivalent desktop management tools).
* Experience of working in a Citrix 7.x environment.
* Knowledge and practical experience of application packaging, customisation and deployment methodologies and toolsets.
* Application virtualisation (App-V) on current Windows 10 with centralised management.
* Experience of delivering Engineering tools application support – (Autodesk, Catia would be an advantage).
* Experience of Server management and knowledge of VMWare would be an advantage.
* Experience of Microsoft Office 2016, 2019 and above deployment and customisation.
* Experience of contributing to the development of the deployment service, particularly relating to the development of technical methodologies, best practice, policies, procedures and associated documentation.
* Experience of Systems management, using iVanti or SCCM as the deployment infrastructure.
* Knowledge and experience with ITSM/ITIL V3 Reference model.
* Good logical diagnostic skills, ability to troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues such as registry-related application problems, clashes between applications etc.
* Good report writing and communication skills.
* Capable of meeting deadlines and following a defined schedule.
* Able to innovate and convince others of the argument for change.
* Willing to get stuck into the ‘unknown’ and be persistent
