Senior Materials Controller Manchester GBP29.24 Per Hour (inside IR35) Initial 6 Months Contract immediate Start
About the Role
We are seeking a highly organized and proactive Senior Materials Controller to join our Operations team. This role is pivotal in ensuring the timely delivery of materials and services to support fleet operations, with a strong focus on depot-based activities.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone with a background in materials management, logistics, or supply chain operations who thrives in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
Key Responsibilities
* Support the Materials Manager in ensuring material availability for depot operations and maintenance.
* Coordinate the Material Controllers team and liaise with internal and external stakeholders.
* Monitor and manage stock levels, adjusting order quantities based on demand and lead times.
* Oversee procurement activities and liaise with suppliers to ensure timely, cost-effective purchasing.
* Forecast material requirements using production plans and historical data.
* Lead continuous improvement initiatives in material management and logistics.
Qualifications & Experience
Essential:
* At least 3 years of experience in materials supervision, inventory control, or supply chain roles.
* Strong EXCEL and Microsoft Outlook skills
* Excellent communication, organisational, and problem-solving skills.
Desirable:
* CIPS qualification or working towards it.
* Experience in an engineering or rail environment.
* Understanding of mechanical and electrical components.
* Experience with warranty claims and reverse logistics.
