Overview
Cadent Gas Ltd. Power safe operations. Maintain critical systems. Deliver technical excellence. We’re looking for a dedicated Electrician to join our Electrical and Instrumentation (E&I) team within the Energy Operations directorate. In this hands-on role, you’ll be responsible for maintaining, modifying, and repairing E&I systems across our gas transportation assets, ensuring safe and efficient operations across the network.
Location
Location Requirement: we are specifically looking for candidates in Hitchin, Chelmsford, Bedfordshire, Luton or Norwich. Regular travel is part of the role, so a Full UK Driving Licence is essential.
Responsibilities
* Asset Health – Assess and report on the condition of E&I equipment and systems.
* Maintenance & Repairs – Carry out planned and reactive maintenance to ensure system reliability.
* Timely Delivery – Complete work efficiently and in line with statutory requirements.
* Standby Support – Participate in the E&I standby rota to maintain service continuity.
* Contractor Oversight – Supervise third-party work to ensure safety and quality standards.
* Team Collaboration – Work closely with colleagues across Cadent to support operational excellence.
What you’ll get to work on
You’re a skilled electrician with a strong background in electrical systems and a commitment to safety and quality.
* Experience – Proven experience in an Electrical role, including electrical inspection testing.
* Technical Knowledge – Familiarity with E&I technical standards, maintenance procedures, and relevant codes of practice.
* Legislation Awareness – Understanding of BS7671, EAWR, and the Health and Safety at Work Act.
* Qualifications –
* 18th Edition Wiring Regulations (BS7671)
* City & Guilds 2394/95 or equivalent (2391 Level 3 testing and inspection)
* Approved apprenticeship
* Certifications – COMPEX EX01–04 preferred but not essential.
* Team Player – Able to work independently and collaboratively with a proactive approach.
