Job overview

Due to the expansion of our imaging service operating over 7 days between the hours of 08:00 to 20:00, we are looking for a Band 4 RTT Validation & Clerical Support Officer to join our growing Administration team with in the General Imaging department at St Bartholomew’s Hospital.

This is an exciting opportunity to undertake this new role within the Imaging Department the successful candidate will work within a busy and buoyant team. They will need to be able to multitask, use their own initiative and remain flexible in order to complete set tasks and deadlines.

The successful candidate will need to have or be willing to quickly gain an understanding of the Elective Patient Access Policy, RTT Guidelines, and DM01 requirements. Excellent communication, interpersonal and team work skills are essential as they will need to be able to manage their own workload to meet pre-determined targets, sometimes under pressure. Computer literacy is also an essential requirement for this position.

The successful candidate will be expected to input/extract information from Patient Administrative & Radiology Information Systems, CRS, Qliksense and spreadsheets during their daily work.

It is essential to have strong administrative background with good organisational skills. The successful candidate will need to actively demonstrate our WeCare value and behaviours.

Main duties of the job

The main purpose of this post is to actively validate and track the referral to treatment processes in a patient’s diagnostic pathway. To escalate the following to service and clinical leads;

· Any delays due to insufficient clinical information to progress the patient’s pathway.

· Pathways that require an event or a scheduled event to be brought forward in line with DM01 guidelines.

· Trends/key themes of incorrect requests/data entry against the individual patient pathways.

Significant data quality issues/errors that may arise.

Essential criteria

1. GCSE / A Level or equivalent standard of Education (Including English/Maths)

Experience

Essential criteria

2. Significant administrative / secretarial experience including maintaining office and patient record systems.
3. Previous NHS experience of patient pathway management and dealing with staff, patients and then public
4. Previous experience using CRS, RISe / PACS, Healthroster and Oracle systems.

Knowledge

Essential criteria

5. Familiar with medical terminology
6. Understanding of Confidentiality and Data Protection Act and able to maintain confidentiality and trust with an awareness of information governance requirements
7. A comprehensive understanding of the Diagnostic Patient Pathway and where it fits within the National RTT
8. Knowledge of computerised software packages including MS Outlook, Word, Excel, and CRS / RISe / PACs.

Skills

9. Able to understand, analyse complex data and use information to monitor processes.
10. Able to take initiative, work unsupervised and prioritise own workload in a busy clinical environment as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
11. Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to maintain a calm, courteous and efficient approach at all times.
12. Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
13. Able to take and produce accurate minutes / records of meetings
14. Have good customer service skills
15. Able to identify and deal problems as they arise.
