Health & Safety Partner - Travel
Salary £36,000 to £40,000 per annum, dependent on experience
12 month FTC
Location: Folkestone Hybrid
We’re looking for a proactive and knowledgeable Health & Safety Advisor to partner with our Travel business, acting as a trusted subject‑matter expert and key point of contact for colleague health and safety.
Reporting to the Group Health & Safety manager, this is a fantastic opportunity to play a highly visible role within the business, partnering with stakeholders at all levels to influence positive change, drive a strong safety culture, and ensure we continue to meet and exceed our legal and corporate responsibilities.
We work in a hybrid way at Saga both at home and in the office. This role requires you to be working from our Folkestone office roughly three times a week as well as ad hoc trips to our Crawley office and workshop and operational ports in Southampton & Dover.

Main Responsibilities
You will be responsible for partnering with the Travel business to provide advice, guidance, and support on all aspects of health, safety, and well‑being, and to support the development of policy and procedures in accordance with HSE legislation, regulations, and standards.
Other accountabilities will include:
* Advising on the implementation of risk assessments and risk control measures.
* Supporting the development and delivery of training and education programmes to enhance the awareness and ensure competence of directors, managers, colleagues, contractors, etc.
* Promoting a positive and proactive health and safety culture throughout the organisation, raising awareness of issues, and leading by example to encourage colleague engagement and commitment to our values.
* Adopting a proactive stance in resolving issues and concerns.
* Supporting the investigation of incidents, accidents and health and safety breaches, analysing root causes, collating data, and recommending preventative measures.
* Staying informed about changes in health and safety legislation, monitoring and researching industry best practices, and ensuring continual improvement.
* Supporting the development and maintenance of key strategic working relationships, while advising on the development and delivery of programmes and processes.
* Consulting across the Travel business to continually improve the occupational physical and mental health of colleagues, implementing preventative and reactive controls.
* Supporting with the development and preparation of timely, concise and targeted reports to the Board.
* Supporting key programmes and projects in relation to HSE, adding value, continuously improving standards, and adequately controlling risk, while focusing on business needs.
* Providing an independent and competent HSE capability for Saga Travel to ensure that all key partners meet good practice and legal requirements as part of good corporate governance.
* Providing advice and due diligence in relation to HSE, as required.
* Working with internal and external stakeholders to monitor the status of compliance, identifying risks and issues.
* Representing Saga, as and when required, at selected meetings involving key stakeholders.
* Advising in the management and response to health and safety breaches, incidents, and emergencies.
The Ideal Candidate
You will be a qualified, or partly qualified, Health & Safety professional (CertIOSH & NEBOSH) with proven experience in deploying UK H&S legislation.
Experience supporting Health & Safety in a non‑traditional office environments, as well as overseas health and safety legislation, would be an advantage.
Operational skills required:
* Strong knowledge of relevant legislation, regulations, and industry standards.
* Demonstrated ability to undertake risk assessments.
* Undertake Incident investigations, including root cause analysis.
* Ability to balance attention to detail while understanding broader context and perspective.
* Deliver safety and awareness training.
* Prioritise workload, ability to manage priorities and conflicting demands.
* Strong communicator and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and influence stakeholders at all levels.
