Overview
As a Senior Platform Engineer you will design, build, and maintain the pipelines and infrastructure that power our enterprise SaaS platforms – Smart Test and Smart Audit – our market‑leading automation and compliance solutions for Workday. This role combines hands‑on platform engineering with cloud automation and continuous improvement to support thousands of enterprise users globally. You will work in a fast‑paced environment, making sound, reasoned decisions while learning new technologies with talented colleagues who help you grow.
Key Responsibilities
* Collaborate with engineering, testing, consulting, product management and security teams to build, test, and deploy high‑quality software.
* Employ the latest technologies appropriately to extract maximum user and business benefit, ensuring alignment with industry standards and best practices.
* Support colleagues and foster an inclusive DevOps culture.
* Lead conversations and decisions to ensure services remain scalable, secure, reliable and performant.
* Support services through live operation, ensuring availability, security and performance while continuously improving them.
* Act as a role model by embodying Kainos values and proactively coaching and mentoring junior team members.
* Pursue professional growth by developing specialisms and exploring new career paths.
Minimum Requirements
* Proven ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary team.
* Strong verbal and written communication skills for conveying technical and non‑technical information.
* Significant expertise with configuration management, infrastructure provisioning and automation tools.
* Fluency in at least one of: PowerShell, Bash, Python, Ruby, Go, Groovy.
* Demonstrable experience designing, building, testing, automating, monitoring and supporting substantial components within modern digital service platforms in production.
* Ability to produce scalable, resilient, efficient, secure, cost‑effective designs that minimize lock‑in.
* Experience contributing to technical decisions, architecture, estimation, product planning, user story creation and advocating MVP.
* Knowledge of modern Continuous Delivery processes for releasing software to production.
* Application of industry best practices and patterns across infrastructure and application components (security, elasticity, performance).
* Experience with public cloud platforms such as AWS or Azure.
* Experience with configuration management, infrastructure provisioning and container orchestration tooling.
* Proficiency with Git and debugging complex problems across multiple servers, services and tools.
Desirable
* Third‑level qualification in a related discipline.
* Mid‑level public cloud certification (AWS or Azure).
* Active participation in knowledge‑sharing activities within the team and with broader non‑technical audiences.
* Experience with cloud‑native SaaS and PaaS technologies.
* Experience managing, mentoring and coaching junior staff.
