Accounts Assistant Luton (LU3) Salary: Up to £40k Our client is a well-established organisation based in Leagrave, operating across a variety of sectors including trusts, and construction. They are currently seeking an experienced Accounts Assistant to cover a 12-month maternity contract, beginning in Summer 2025 - This is could lead to a contract being made permanent. This full-time, office-based role reports directly to the Group Financial Controller and will primarily support the purchase ledger and payroll functions for group companies. The successful candidate will demonstrate strong attention to detail, excellent organisational skills, and a proactive approach to working within a fast-paced, close-knit team environment. Responsibilities : Processing cash book transactions via Excel and Pegasus Opera software Managing purchase ledger and entering financial data, including monthly payroll Reconciling bank statements and cashbook entries on a monthly basis Coding, posting and approving invoices Processing BACS payments and cheque requests Managing credit card statements and employee business expenses Ensuring financial transactions are accurately recorded, filed, and reported Checking supplier statements and requesting missing documentation Supporting financial audit preparations and compliance requirements Providing holiday cover and assisting with other ad hoc transactions as required Requirements: Proven experience in an accounts or finance-related position Competent bookkeeping skills Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel Strong organisational and time management abilities Excellent communication and interpersonal skills A proactive and detail-oriented approach Ability to work effectively under pressure Discretion and professionalism Experience using Pegasus Opera (Desirable) Familiarity with audit protocols and processes (Desirable) Payroll processing experience Working Hours: Monday - Friday09:00 17:00 Benefits: Competitive salary 33 days holiday (inclusive of bank holidays) Free on-site parking (first come, first served) Training and support provided Uniform supplied
