Healthcare Assistant – Wards

Overview
We are seeking a dedicated Healthcare Assistant to join our ward team. This full‑time role requires 37.5 hours per week with a flexible shift pattern.
Responsibilities
* Assist patients with personal hygiene, dressing, toileting, oral care and mobility, respecting their preferences and dignity.
* Help patients with eating, drinking and nutritional support, including documenting intake where appropriate.
* Provide comfort and emotional support to patients and their relatives, creating a caring and safe environment.
* Carry out and accurately record routine observations such as blood pressure, pulse, respiratory rate, temperature, oxygen saturation and blood glucose levels after appropriate training.
* Support basic clinical procedures, including wound care setup, assisting with catheter care, pressure area prevention and the use of mobility aids.
* Prepare and maintain clinical areas, including trolleys, beds and equipment to ensure readiness for patient use.
* Collaborate with nurses, doctors, therapists and admin teams to support safe and efficient patient care.
Qualifications
* Previous experience in a health support role (hospital, care home, community or domiciliary).
* Good communication and interpersonal skills with a caring and compassionate attitude.
* Ability to follow instructions and raise concerns appropriately.
* Basic literacy, numeracy and IT skills.
* Physical capability to carry out duties including moving and handling tasks.
* NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Health and Social Care (or equivalent) desirable.
* Knowledge of safeguarding, infection control and confidentiality procedures.
* Previous experience is essential.
