This role seeks an experienced psychological practitioner with excellent communication skills to join our well established and recently expanded Intensive Support Team (IST) in South Staffordshire.
Working with the IST you will provide evidence‑based interventions to improve quality of life, autonomy, psychological wellbeing and reduce the risk of placement breakdowns and the use of restrictive practices.
You should have experience in Positive Behavioural Support and therapeutic work with people with learning disabilities across a range of settings, including complex mental and physical health needs, autism and complex behavioural needs. Experience as a psychologist who enjoys multidisciplinary and multi‑agency work, can work creatively to secure good outcomes and has an active interest in research is desirable.
Your team will include nurses, speech and language therapists, occupational therapists, an assistant psychologist and wider support from physiotherapists and psychiatry colleagues within the Community Learning Disability Team (CLDT). You will benefit from the support of highly talented, enthusiastic and friendly psychological practitioner colleagues from the CLDT.
Main duties of the role
 * Provide highly specialist clinical psychology input to South Staffordshire’s Intensive Support Team.
 * Act as lead principal psychologist, offering evidence‑based interventions to improve quality of life, skill level (autonomy) and psychological wellbeing, and to reduce placement breakdowns and restrictive practices.
 * Offer specialist support, advice and clinical supervision to other staff, including Band 7 and 8a Applied Psychologists, Clinical Psychologists in Training, Assistant Psychologists and qualified colleagues.
 * Provide leadership and advice on non‑pharmacological interventions to support the adult learning disability service in line with the STOMP agenda and NICE guideline NG 11.
