Senior Medical Writer – Healthcare Communications (Promotional)
Permanent – UK – Hybrid
I’m supporting an established healthcare communications agency that is looking to add an experienced Medical Writer to their growing team. This role will suit someone who enjoys blending scientific depth with creative storytelling and is confident owning client relationships and leading projects from a scientific perspective.
What you’ll be doing
* Develop clear, accurate and compelling materials across a variety of promotional formats, including digital tools, congress assets, educational content for healthcare professionals and patients, websites, and other multichannel deliverables.
* Review clinical studies, publications and datasets to identify key messages, shape communication strategies and ensure scientific credibility.
* Act as the scientific lead across assigned brands, ensuring consistency in tone, messaging, and strategic direction across all deliverables.
* Work closely with account teams, creatives and strategists, acting as the go-to scientific expert within your project groups.
* Carry out literature searches and background research for proposals, pitches and new initiatives, producing concise summaries to inform internal teams and clients.
* Participate actively in meetings, confidently presenting work, discussing rationale, and helping guide clients through scientific and strategic decisions.
* Offer support, feedback and direction to junior writers, helping to develop skills and ensure the quality of team output.
What you’ll bring
* A life-sciences postgraduate qualification and proven medical writing expertise within a promotional medcomms setting.
* The ability to translate complex scientific content into accessible, engaging, and strategically aligned messages, both written and verbal.
* Experience working across a broad mix of deliverables within healthcare communications.
* Comfortable presenting and discussing work with clients, with strong ability to build rapport and uncover strategic needs.
* A track record of shaping new content ideas and recommending solutions based on understanding of therapeutic landscapes and brand goals.
* Confident collaborating with multidisciplinary teams while also managing your own projects independently.
* Capable of working across multiple therapy areas and managing deadlines within a fast-paced environment.
* Excellent interpersonal skills and a strong eye for detail.
* Working knowledge of the ABPI Code of Practice and experience using systems such as Veeva Promomats.
