Role: Teaching Assistant (Level 2)
Location: Central Bedfordshire College – Dunstable Kingsway Campus
Salary/Benefits: Salary is between £25,585 and £30,915 per annum (Pro-Rata) DOE and Qualifications, People’s Pension, Retail and Leisure Discounts, excellent professional and personal development opportunities, accessing college courses.
Hours/Weeks: 14 hours per week (Mondays and Fridays 09.00 – 16.00) – 37 weeks per year
Contract Type: Permanent – Part / Term Time

About the role:
We are currently seeking a Teaching Assistant (Level 2) to join our Health, Social Care and Childcare department at The Bedford College Group.
As a Teaching Assistant (Level 2), you play an important role in the success of our students through:
1. Learner Support & Inclusion – Provide educational, personal and social support to students, including those with special educational needs, promoting inclusion and helping learners fully engage in learning activities.
2. Classroom & Curriculum Support – Support teaching and learning activities under tutor guidance, prepare learning resources, assist delivery in Childcare and Health & Social Care, and provide class cover when required.
3. Student Supervision & Safeguarding – Assist with college visits and off‑site activities, supervise learners appropriately, and ensure safeguarding, health & safety and professional standards are consistently upheld.
4. Teamwork, Confidentiality & Professional Practice – Work collaboratively as part of a professional team, maintain confidentiality, follow College policies and contribute to the efficient running of the College.
5. Training, Flexibility & Development – Participate in meetings, performance management and CPD, undertake varied duties as directed, and support College operations flexibly to meet learner and departmental needs.
About you:
6. Qualifications & Educational Background – Hold a relevant Level 3 qualification with GCSE English and maths at Grade 4/C or above, providing a strong foundation to support learning.
7. Classroom & Learner Support Experience – Experience supporting teaching and learning with 16+ or adult learners, following lesson plans and helping students meet learning objectives.
8. Behaviour Management & Engagement – Confident in managing classroom behaviour, promoting engagement and maintaining a positive, inclusive learning environment.
9. Communication, IT & Teamwork – Strong interpersonal and communication skills, basic IT capability (Microsoft Office, VLEs such as Moodle or Teams), and ability to work independently and collaboratively.
10. Professional Values & Personal Attributes – Reliable, punctual and professional, with a calm, adaptable and empathetic approach, committed to equality, diversity, inclusion and student‑focused support.
