SEMH Teaching Assistant Location: Weymouth Salary: £13.75 an hour Start Date: Immediate / Negotiable SEN Teaching Assistant Do you have a passion for helping young people with social, emotional, and mental health needs? If so, this SEMH Teaching Assistant role could be the perfect opportunity for you! The Role: You will be responsible for supporting classroom teachers in providing the best support possible to students ranging in the ages 5-16 years old, with various SEN and behavioural difficulties such as: Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) Oppositional Defiant Disorder (ODD) Conduct Disorder (CD) Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD) Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) Attention Deficit Disorder (ADD) Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) Metachromatic Leukodystrophy ( MLD) Speech and Language Difficulties Other behavioural needs An SEMH Teaching Assistant plays a vital role in supporting students with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health needs. They work closely with teachers and other professionals to create: A safe, inclusive learning environment Provide tailored support Help students develop coping strategies, social skills, and confidence to succeed both academically and personally Who We Are Looking For: SEMH experience SEN(D) experience Able to collaborate with teachers and other support staff Understanding of positive behaviour support strategies Able to de-escalate challenging situations calmly and safely Working Hours/Benefits: Full time, part time and flexible availability applicants will be considered for this role Monday-Friday, 08:30-15:30 Term Time Only 12.07% Holiday Pay Access to CPD-accredited SEND training courses If you’re passionate about making a real difference in the lives of children and young people and want to be part of a supportive team that values your contribution, we’d love to hear from you.
