Milk Education is working with a large SEND specialist provision in the Middlesbrough area to recruit SEND Support Workers who genuinely want to make a positive difference in the lives of children and young people with a range of profound and multiple learning difficulties (PMLD).
This role is suited to individuals who are patient, caring and passionate about supporting children to feel safe, understood and included in their learning. As a school SEND Support Worker, you will work with pupils who may be non-verbal, have physical disabilities, or require high levels of personalised support – so a calm, non-judgemental approach and strong communication skills are essential.
Both full-time and part-time positions are available, offering flexibility to suit your availability.
SEND Support Worker – Key Responsibilities:
1. Provide consistent 1:1 and small group support for pupils aged 5–19 with a range of PMLD
2. Support with the delivery of Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs)
3. Encourage emotional well-being, communication and social development
4. Communicate clearly and respectfully with teachers, school staff and external professionals
5. Support with personal care if and when required: Moving and Handling, Toileting, PEG Feeding, etc. (training provided)
6. Help create a safe, inclusive and supportive learning environment
SEND Support Worker – Person Specification:
7. Experienced Support Workers open to working with children are well-suited to this role due to the complex needs of pupils
8. Previous experience administering personal care is advantageous
9. A genuine passion for supporting children with additional needs
10. A patient, caring and non-judgmental approach
11. Strong communication skills, with the ability to adapt to individual needs
12. Ability to work proactively, both independently and as part of a team
13. An Enhanced DBS certificate on the update service (or willingness to apply)
