This role is a development post to undertake a comprehensive training programme in the activities undertaken by Directorate Accounting with the aim of moving to a Band 6 Management Accountant role. The likely duration of this development role is 18 months, dependent on the post holder delivering key success criteria and obtaining the required financial qualification before promotion.
The post holder will provide efficient and proactive financial information services to Departments within the Division and the Trust, as well as external bodies, ensuring objectives are achieved. They will be responsible for providing financial information to managers to facilitate sound decision-making, working within the monthly reporting timetable, and undertaking projects to improve the accuracy and timeliness of financial reporting to Divisions.
Main duties of the job
* Produce accurate and timely financial information, including detailed reports on key financial issues.
* Investigate and explain significant variances, discussing these with budget holders and managers.
* Contribute to the Trust’s financial strategy and business planning process.
* Develop benchmarking and VFM processes with internal and external sources to inform financial planning.
* Support the development of management information reports for divisional decision-making.
* Develop a sound understanding of the operating environment of the Division.
* Support and mentor staff in professional accountancy training and other training activities.

Person specification
* Degree and progress towards CCAB professional qualification or equivalent.
* Significant experience in a Management Accounts Department.
* Excellent IT and analytical skills.
* Effective communication skills.
