Job Summary
The Production Planner is responsible for the development, maintenance, and control of production plans and schedules to ensure that customer demand is met in a timely, compliant, and cost-effective manner.
This role is integral to ensuring the seamless coordination of supply chain activities and alignment with business goals. You will collaborate cross-functionally to fulfil demands, mitigate risks, and drive operational efficiency while adhering to best practices and regulatory requirements.
Role and Responsibilities
As a Production Planner, you should:
Production Planning:
* Develop and maintain short-term and long-term production plans based on customer orders, forecasted demand, inventory levels, and production capacity.
* Issue production orders in alignment with equipment and material availability as well as customers’ requirements, including batch release timeline.
* Identify and elevate risks to supply, delays, or constraints impacting delivery performance.
* Monitor schedule adherence and adjust schedules in real-time in response to deviations, material delays, or equipment downtime.
* Ensure planning activities are conducted in accordance with approved procedures and systems (e.g. ERP/MRP)
* Maintain accurate and auditable planning documentation for regulatory and internal reviews.
* Support preparation and maintain Rough‑Cut Capacity Planning (RCCP) to proactively identify and manage capacity constraints.
* Support the end‑to‑end Planning process, ensuring adherence to defined processes and timelines.
* Contribute to S&OP processes to support delivery performance (OTIF) and customer commitments.
Continuous Improvement:
* Support project‑related activities such as new product introductions and functional system improvements.
* Support projects related to supply chain optimisation, lean manufacturing, and system enhancements (e.g., ERP upgrades).
* Support resolution of operational issues impacting production, including deviations, downtime, or supply disruptions.
* Foster a positive, proactive team culture, maintaining a hands‑on, can‑do attitude.
Knowledge and competencies
* Understanding and experience of production planning within pharmaceutical manufacturing, (GMP, GDP, regulatory requirements)
* Strong analytical, problem‑solving, and decision‑making skills.
* High level of attention to detail and accuracy
* Proactive approach to problem‑solving and risk management
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
* Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
