This post is additional post in addition to 1 WTE Consultant/non medical AC, 1 WTE core psychiatry trainee, and 1 GP trainee. The Specialty Doctor will work as part of a multi-disciplinary team and provide clinical expertise for both new and ongoing cases particularly issues around psychopharmacology, diagnosis, risk assessment and management and leadership issues including liaison with the local GPs and inpatient units. All referrals for inpatients will be seen initially by the Crisis Team who are based at Lanchester Road Hospital, Durham this is also the base for any new admissions. Most work will be at CMHT base. However, there is an opportunity for home visits with the care co-ordinator and also liaison with Lanchester Road Hospital for instance formulation meetings and pre-discharge meetings. The patients will generally be seen with their care co-ordinator and although the Specialty Doctor will be able to work autonomously and independently in terms of decision making, there will be close and ready clinical supervision available from Consultant Psychiatrist/Non medic AC /senior leadership Team and also Clinical Pharmacist. There are no specific Educational supervision requirements for this post.

* Approved under S12 of MHA OR able to achieve within 6 months of appointment.
