Layers Restoration is an oil painting restoration studio based in Cheltenham, in the picturesque Cotswolds. Our current clients are collectors and art dealers who expect us to offer an efficient, cost-effective, service while working to a professional standard.
We're looking for an experienced Senior Painting Conservator to work onsite at our studio. You can help us to breathe new life into beautiful old pieces and spend each day surrounded by history. We always endeavour to apply painting conservation best practices, while also being mindful of timescales.
It would be a distinct advantage if you love the old masters.
Alongside your conservation work, you will be expected to manage the studio workload, offer advice to less experienced members of staff, and provide estimates for new enquiries. At times, we'll need you to accompany the director to appointments with clients.
Tasks May Include
* Surface cleans
* Varnish removal
* Fills and retouching
* Repairing tears and holes
* Flattening bumps in canvases
* Consolidation
Qualifications
Masters in a conservation-based subject and several years of practical experience.
Salary
£45, days annual leave including bank holidays.
