Job Introduction
We have an exciting opportunity for an HR Advisor to join our People Team on a 12-month fixed term contract.
As an HR Advisor, you will play a key role in assessing risk and providing clear, practical advice to managers on a range of employee relations matters, with a particular focus on long and short-term absence, disciplinary, and grievance casework. You will also work closely with senior management on Early Conciliation and Employment Tribunal cases, ensuring compliance with company policy, employment law, and best practice.
Working as part of an Employee Relations team that supports 26,000 employees, you will be comfortable managing a busy caseload and using case management systems and spreadsheets to maintain accurate records and monitor progress.
Job Overview
* Coach and support managers by providing practical advice and guidance via telephone, email, and face-to-face meetings.
* Manage employee relations casework, with a focus on long and short-term absence, disciplinary, and grievance matters.
* Build positive working relationships while offering advice and guidance in line with company policy, employment law, and best practice.
* Use case management systems and spreadsheets to record, track, and monitor case activity accurately.
* Review and update company policies in line with legislative changes and business requirements.
* Contribute to the continuous improvement of the department.
* Keep up to date with employment legislation and HR guidance.
* Previous experience in an Employee Relations Advisor or similar HR advisory role.
* Experience of managing employee relations casework, particularly absence, disciplinary, and grievance matters.
* Experience of using case management systems and spreadsheets to manage and monitor cases effectively.
* CIPD qualified or working towards a CIPD qualification in Human Resource Management.
* Strong knowledge of employment law, HR best practice, and GDPR, with a clear understanding of confidentiality when handling sensitive information.
* A professional, approachable, and supportive style, with the ability to balance responsiveness with pragmatism.
* Strong commercial awareness and an understanding of business needs.
* Confidence in delivering training and presentations, and in contributing to continuous departmental improvement.
* Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment supporting a large and diverse workforce of 26,000 employees.
