Senior Anatomical Pathology Research Technician, London
About the role
We have a fantastic opportunity for an experienced Anatomical Pathological Research Technician to join the team at QSBB. You will assist with the curation of a unique human post-mortem nervous system tissue resource, helping to advance diagnostics and research in neurodegenerative diseases.
You will work alongside a multidisciplinary team including histology and research technicians, administrators, neuroscientists, and clinicians at QSBB—one of the oldest and largest brain banks in the world.
An honorary contract will be sought from UCLH NHS Foundation Trust, for which a DBS check will be required.
The role is available immediately and is funded by a grant from the Reta Lila Weston Trust for two years in the first instance.

About you
You will have a degree in Biomedical Science, Anatomy, or a related discipline, along with proven experience working in mortuaries as an Anatomical Pathology Technician. General laboratory competence and a strong understanding of laboratory and mortuary safety standards, quality control procedures, and relevant NHS regulatory requirements are essential. Equally important is the proven ability to deliver work to agreed standards, demonstrating a methodical and reliable approach, and excellent communication, interpersonal, and organisational skills.
This role meets the eligibility requirements for a skilled worker certificate of sponsorship or a global talent visa under UK Visas and Immigration legislation. Therefore, UCL welcomes applications from international applicants who require a visa.
