Offer description

Nuffield Department of Women’s & Reproductive Health, Big Data Institute, Li Ka Shing Centre for Health Information and Discovery, Old Road Campus, Oxford OX3 7LF

We are seeking a motivated and highly organised Computational Research Assistant to join Dr Hannah Currant’s research group.

This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to biomedical research focused on reproductive ageing, hormonal medication response and ovarian biology.

The post-holder will support a programme of research using electronic health care records to study drug response, alongside omics analyses of ovarian data. Working closely with Dr Currant, collaborators and other members of the research group, the successful candidate will carry out high-quality data analysis, contribute to study design and statistical analysis plans, and help prepare findings for publication and presentation.

The role will involve extracting, processing and curating data from large and complex datasets, including electronic health record databases, and conducting scientifically robust analyses across a range of omics data types. The post-holder will also contribute to scientific reports, journal articles and conference presentations, and may represent the group at meetings, seminars and discussions with partner institutions.

Applicants should hold an undergraduate degree in biology, bioinformatics, statistics or a related discipline, and have proficiency in R or Python. Experience of large-scale data analysis, for example in gene expression, genomics, imaging or electronic health care records, is essential. The successful candidate will be able to manage their own research and administrative activities, communicate effectively in written and oral formats, and work both independently and as part of a collaborative team.

A master’s degree in genomics, statistics or bioinformatics, experience contributing to publications or research reports, experience working in a research team, and specialist knowledge of ovarian biology would be advantageous, but are not required.

This fixed-term appointment offers an excellent opportunity to develop computational research skills within a supportive biomedical research environment and to contribute to studies with relevance to reproductive health and personalised medicine.

Applications for flexible working arrangements are welcomed and will be considered in line with business needs.

You will be required to upload a CV and Supporting Statement as part of your online application.

The closing date for applications is 12.00 noon on Monday 6 July. Interviews are expected to take place on Tuesday 21 July.
