Tradewind Recruitment is working with a high-performing 11-18 secondary academy in Oldham to recruit a dedicated Teacher of English for a full-time maternity cover from April 2026 through to July 2026, with the potential to continue into the next academic year.
This is an excellent opportunity for both Early Career Teachers and experienced QTS/QTLS practitioners seeking a well-supported role with strong daily rates of pay.
Daily rate: £168 - £232 per day (depending on experience)
Role
You will be teaching English Language and Literature to GCSE across Key Stages 3 and 4 on a full-time basis (Monday to Friday, 8:15 am to 3:00 pm). The role requires a teacher who can deliver engaging, inclusive lessons and maintain a calm and focused classroom environment.
Ideal Candidate
* Have strong behaviour management skills and create a respectful and supportive learning environment.
* Be able to adapt lessons to suit a wide range of abilities, backgrounds and learning needs.
* Demonstrate the ability (or strong potential) to support students in exceeding expected progress, for example improving from grade 3 to grade 6 or higher.
* Be flexible, committed and enthusiastic about teaching English.
While there is no timetabled Key Stage 5 teaching, the school does have a small and growing sixth form, so experience or confidence in teaching A Level English would be advantageous.

This is a successful and well-established 11-18 academy in North Oldham. The school was graded "Good" by Ofsted in November 2024 and offers modern, well‑equipped teaching facilities.

* Hold QTS, QTLS or be an Early Career Teacher.
* Have experience teaching English at Key Stages 3 and 4.
* Provide a full CV with complete employment and education history.
* Have or be willing to obtain an Enhanced DBS.
* Have the legal right to work in the UK.
