The Project Engineer organises the planning, implementation, and control of investment projects in the plant coordinating the different plant's Project managers. The project Engineer will report directly to the Plant Manager and dotted line to the Head of Project Management and Engineering. As Project manager they will be responsible for managing the initiation and implementation of major CapEx projects assigned to them by Plant manager in agreement with Head Project Management and Engineering
Purpose of the role
* The Project Engineer organises the planning, implementation, and control of investment projects in the plant coordinating the different plant's Project managers.
* As Project manager they will be responsible for managing the initiation and implementation of major CapEx projects assigned to them by Plant manager in agreement with Head Project Management and Engineering.
* This role entails comprehensive ownership of project initiation, implementation, and oversight, ensuring exceptional standards in line with company guidelines and design criteria.
* Working collaboratively with the Plant team, the Project Engineer assesses project viability, manages risks, and leverages technology to innovate and optimise plant processes.
Key accountabilities
* Health and Safety: ensuring that projects adhere to the highest level of health and safety targets in line with Heidelberg Materials' Health and Safety Plan. Where necessary, conduct safety and health audits and interviews.
* Environmental and sustainability: Ensure that all environmental impacts are considered discussed and mitigated by an effective environmental management plan. Liaise with the land and planning department to ensure all proposal are in line with regulatory requirements.
* Project Budget Management: assess and identify projects in the Cement Operation & Technical to be included in the three years budget. Assist the Plant manager in the preparation of the annual investment budget. Monitor and report on the current and upcoming budget to the Plant manager and Head of Project Management and Engineering.
* CapEx AFEs: Evaluate and review the CapEx AFEs in collaboration with project teams, Plant management and other group functions to deliver Best Value Design. To be signed-off by the relevant SteCo.
* Stakeholder management: Ensure all affected stakeholders, including central functions and business line management, are engaged through use of a stakeholder management plan on each project. Provide regular updates and review to ensure ongoing engagement and cooperation from all parties.
* Project Performance: Ensure that all plant projects are clearly defined and set up from the start in line with CCC and UK guidance. Ensure a clear and regular reporting through to the project SteCo. Ensure that project organisation, budgets, timelines and targets (through up-front feasibility studies) are met. Ensure proper coordination between Cement Operation & Technical, plant organisation and CCC. Ensure that post project reviews are undertaken to understand and distribute learnings.
* Ensure all statutory legislation and company regulations are adhered to with respect to all current and proposed operational activities.
* Ensure the availability of technical documentation and necessary manuals for maintenance and repair, as well as original and executive technical drawings for each project.
* Warranty period: Monitor and control over the proper functioning of the installed equipment as part of the investment project until the expiration of the warranty period.
Education/Qualification
* Ideally educated to degree level in Engineering
* Ideally hold (or are working towards) project management qualification
* Nebosh or other equivalent H&S qualification
