The Department of Economics and Law seeks to recruit a Lecturer in Law. Law is a key area of strength for the University and is focused on our undergraduate LLB programme in Law and our innovative LLM in International Commercial Law. The Department has seen significant growth in the last three years, and this is an opportunity to join a vibrant team on a full-time and open-ended basis.

The successful candidate will demonstrate excellence, experience and capacity for growth in all key areas of departmental activity, including teaching, research, programme administration, and student supervision and pastoral support.

Applicants should hold a relevant qualification in the subject area and be able to demonstrate significant experience of teaching relevant subjects and the ability to contribute to modules across our LLB and LLM programmes. Candidates who can contribute towards teaching and research development in the law of obligations, property and environmental law, intellectual property, or broader private law subjects would be particularly welcome. A higher education teaching qualification and/or Fellow status with AdvanceHE is desirable.

The successful candidate will also be able to demonstrate evidence of their developing research agenda and impact, including experience of, or potential for, sourcing external funding in support of their research activities, producing academic publications in high-quality journals, and engaging in effective and impactful dissemination of their work through national and international conferences, policy forums, and public engagement.

The successful candidate will also lead the strategic growth and development of mooting at GCU, developing and supporting students to participate in local, national and international competitions.
