We are seeking a dedicated Pastoral Head of Year to join our outstanding secondary school in Norwich, on a full-time, permanent basis from September 2025. The Role of Head of Year (Pastoral) As a Head of Year, you will be a pivotal figure in the lives of our students. You will lead a dedicated team of tutors, ensuring the highest standards of pastoral care, academic monitoring, and personal development for your allocated year group. Your role will involve: * Leading Pastoral Care: Overseeing the well-being, attendance, behaviour, and academic progress of all students in your year group. * Supporting Students: Acting as the primary point of contact for students, parents, and staff regarding pastoral concerns, providing guidance, and implementing support strategies. * Managing Tutors: Leading, motivating, and line-managing your team of form tutors, ensuring effective delivery of the pastoral curriculum and consistent support. * Promoting School Ethos: Upholding and promoting the school's values and behavioural expectations, fostering a positive and respectful environment. * Safeguarding: Playing a key role in safeguarding and child protection within the school, adhering to all policies and procedures. * Collaboration: Working closely with the Senior Leadership Team, SENDCO, and other support services to ensure integrated support for students. What We're Looking For * Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and significant teaching experience in a secondary school setting. * Proven experience in a pastoral leadership role (e.g., Assistant Head of Year, Head of Year, or similar). * A deep understanding of effective pastoral care strategies, behaviour management, and safeguarding best practices. * Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with students, parents, and staff. * Strong organisational skills, resilience, and the ability to manage complex situations with empathy and professionalism. * A proactive, solutions-focused approach to student welfare. * A genuine passion for making a positive impact on young people's lives.
