Overview
Warehouse Supervisor role at Yusen Logistics, based in Derby. Monday to Friday, 08:00-16:30. Salary £40,151.13 (dependent on experience).
Responsibilities
* Operations: Ensure the effective operation of the warehouse including resource management, task allocation, and a hands-on approach to work as necessary.
* Shift leadership: Oversee the effective running of the shift to ensure products are logged in cages/pallets, preparation of loads to be shipped, and that all associated paperwork is correctly completed and printed.
* People management: Oversee employee relations procedures such as holiday authorisations to ensure sufficient levels of employees are available to meet operational demands, raising in a timely manner when additional staff are required either on a temporary or permanent basis.
* Safety and handling: Ensure all manual handling techniques are followed to prevent injury; ensure goods are handled to minimise damage.
* Procedures and discipline: Ensure all company procedures are adhered to, including ER procedures such as absence and performance management and standards of behaviour; support investigations and disciplinary hearings as necessary.
* Communication: Ensure team members are aware of key outcomes, business processes, expectations and that all employee procedures are adhered to; maintain 5S (Sort, Straighten, Sanitise, Standardise, Sustain).
* Health and safety: Ensure all health and safety procedures are adhered to, including PPE; escalate concerns to the line manager, and carry out equipment checks in accordance with procedure, reporting defects as needed.
Key Skills
* Team leadership/supervision experience from logistics or production with strong ability to manage and motivate a team.
* Confident with a proactive, flexible approach; overtime may be required (up to 2 hours) depending on business needs.
* A full counter balance forklift truck licence (FLT licence desirable).
* Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with frequent interactions with customers.
* Knowledge of Health and Safety requirements and sound PC skills.
* Ability to manage change and continuous improvement.
