The Role
We are seeking a driven and experienced Warehouse & Coldstore Manager to take ownership of daily operations in our fast-paced, customer-focused environment. Reporting directly to the Head of Warehousing, this is a hands-on leadership role with autonomy to shape how the warehouse and coldstore operate. You will lead a large team, ensuring high standards of performance, safety, and compliance while driving efficiencies across the site. You will identify and implement continuous improvement initiatives that support growth and sustainability goals.

Key Responsibilities
* People Leadership: Lead, motivate and support the warehouse team to achieve shift and site targets; create a positive work environment with strong employee engagement; delegate tasks effectively and resolve issues swiftly; conduct regular performance reviews, manage attendance, and handle disciplinary issues; ensure training and development for all employees.
* Operations Management: Take day-to-day responsibility for warehouse and coldstore operations; proactively manage labour to meet demand and capacity; manage stock, inventory and order processes to company standards; deliver excellent customer service through efficient operations; liaise with contractors to manage plant, site facilities and repairs.
* Compliance, Safety & Standards: Ensure operations comply with policies, legal requirements and industry standards; maintain a clean, safe and compliant working environment; lead on health & safety initiatives, risk assessments, and incident investigations; ensure readiness for audits and compliance with BRC and other standards.
* Performance & Continuous Improvement: Monitor performance against KPIs, identify and implement improvements to increase efficiency and reduce costs; support adoption of technology and innovative solutions; champion sustainability initiatives within the warehouse and coldstore.
* Experience: Prior experience in a food or temperature-controlled warehouse; minimum 3 years’ experience managing a team of 10+ employees; proven WMS experience; strong leadership and customer-focused communication; flexible and hands-on approach; proficient IT skills (Microsoft Office); knowledge of Health & Safety and BRC requirements; LEAN / Six Sigma experience (desirable).
Terms & Benefits
* Monday – Friday, full-time role. Day shift hours with a flexible approach.
* Salary: £42,000 - £47,000 depending on experience.

Required Criteria
* Previous experience within a food or temperature-controlled warehouse.
* Minimum 3 years’ experience managing a team of 10+ employees.
* Proven experience in using a Warehouse Management System (WMS).
* Strong leadership skills with experience in achieving targets in a fast-paced environment.
* Customer-focused approach with strong communication skills.
* Flexible and hands-on approach to warehouse operations.
* Proficient IT skills, particularly Microsoft Office.
* Knowledge of Health & Safety and BRC requirements.
